Hello
Welcome to HCM
There are of course medications for high pulse rate. But every high pulse rate need not be started in medications. For that we need to see whether the high pulse rate is really affecting the other bodily functions of the patient or having inability to continue his family activities because of the same. Since you mentioned that you had
high blood pressure , I want to know if you are still on blood pressure medications. Some BP medications like beta blockers can decrease the
heart rate also, leading to a beneficial effect on the heart rate also.
For heart rate control I recommend you first try without medications and with lifestyle modifications like brisk walking, jogging, cycling etc. These usually take time to show their effect on the heart rate about three months. Adopting
yoga and practicing on a daily basis also can lower heart rate and control the BP.
If despite these measures your heart rate is not under control, and if they are causing harm to other body functions, then you can be started on heart rate lowering drugs like beta blockers and
ivabradine. As of now, a heart rate of 100-120 should be only managed without medications.
Wishing you good health
